Andy Griffith Receives the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President George W. Bush

We lost a national treasure and more specifically, a Tar Heel treasure when Andy Griffith passed away today at the age of 86 at his home in Manteo, North Carolina. The cause of death was listed as a heart attack.

Andy, a member of the Class of 1949, studied Dramatic Arts and majored in Music at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill.  Although he became well known for his skills as an actor, producer, writer, and comedian, Andy is arguably most fondly remembered by his fans for his role as Sheriff Andy Taylor on “The Andy Griffith Show.”

For decades, Andy Griffith was one of the most respected and admired figures on TV.  Many of us grew up in the 60s anxiously looking forward to the next new episode of “The Andy Griffith Show.”  We could hardly wait to see what Sheriff Andy Taylor, Deputy Barney Fife, Opie Taylor, Aunt Bee Taylor, and friends would stir up next.  Reruns of the classic show are still enjoyed by multiple generations to this day.

In 1953, Andy recorded “What It Was, Was Football” — a hugely successful comedic piece that not only sold roughly 800,000 copies but also landed Andy a 1954 appearance on “The Ed Sullivan Show.”   That famous recording jump started Andy’s long, productive career.

Thank you for enriching our lives, Andy Griffith.  We adore you.  RIP, sir.

UNC Basketball Museum 360 Tour by New View Photography

Another cool 360 tour by New View Photography — this time of the UNC Basketball Museum.

Please consider casting a vote to help New View Photograhpy qualify for a $250,00 small business grant from Chase.  Here’s more from the owner, a fellow Tar Heel:

Chase is giving $250,000 grants to 12 small businesses. I’ve turned in the application and now the rest is in your hands. I need 250 votes in order to “qualify” and be considered for the grant. I’ll never be able to get to 250 without help from my Tar Heel family.

I’m currently working on an educational software program and could definitely use the $250k to help fund the project. The problem is I have less than 28 hours to try to get these votes… the qualification period ends midnight June 30th.

I would greatly appreciate it if you would follow the simple instructions below….

Visit: www.missionsmallbusiness.com
1. click on “Log In & Support”(it logs in using your Facebook acct…I hate that also)
2. Type in “New View Photography” and click search
3. Then click VOTE for New View Photography within the search result.

This grant will be used to help fund an educational software product that I am producing.

Thank you for taking the time to help me try to get in on this deal in the final days.
