UNC Tar Heels All-Time Starting Five

It’s pretty much impossible to choose only five starters from the list of great players who have played basketball at UNC.  But Kyle Montgomery and others at the ACC.com make a stab at it anyway.

Who would be your starting five?

Candace Wood Seals Game for Lady Heels

Candace Wood head shot 2011-2012

Al Wood isn’t the only sweet-shooting Tar Heel in his family.

Al’s daughter, 5′-11″ junior Candace Wood, sank a beautiful three-pointer to put Carolina on top as they battled to hold on to the game against Virginia in Carmichael Arena tonight. Then Candace stepped to the line twice for 1-and-1’s and calmly drained all four shots to ice the game for the Heels.

Candace has missed only one free throw all season.

Dad was in the stands watching.

I think she got the gene.

A Trip Down Memory Lane: UNC vs UMD Basketball Games From the Past

The UNC Tar Heels will face the Maryland Terrapins on Saturday, February 4th in College Park.  Regardless of team rankings, with the support of one of the most rowdy collegiate fan bases out there, the Terps seem to always play well against the Heels in the Comcast Center.

To get you Tar Heel fans fired up for Saturday, here’s a little trip down memory lane from the ACC Vault:

Harrison Barnes Story – Part 1 and Part 2

Two fine videos from the official site of the ACC site, “Kings of the Court travels to Ames, Iowa for this intimate portrait of Tar Heel standout Harrison Barnes.”

Harrison Barnes – VIdeo 2 — 2:48

And a little reminder of one of the highlights from #40’s freshman campaign —  the game=winning shot that drove a dagger in the hearts of the FSU Seminoles in Tallahassee on March 2, 2011.
